Simone Wegge is a Professor in the PEP Department at the College of Staten Island (CUNY), teaching courses such as microeconomics, macroeconomics, econometrics, and economic history. She is a member of the doctoral faculty at the CUNY Graduate Center and an active member of the Cliometric Society, Economic History Association, and Social Science History Association. Since 2005, she has represented the PEP Department on the College Council and Faculty Senate, serving as Deputy Chair in 2009.
Her research focuses on historical migration processes and comparative analysis of child labor in nineteenth-century Europe, particularly Germany. She has been awarded the International Economic History Association Dissertation Prize (2002) for her doctoral thesis. Her work draws on interdisciplinary literatures in economics, history, and social sciences.
Current affiliations include the College of Staten Island and CUNY Graduate Center. She has received funding from the German Marshall Fund of the United States, Economic History Association, German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), and PSC-CUNY grants.
