Simone Schweber

Simone Schweber is the Goodman Professor of Education and Jewish Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison's School of Education. She previously served as Director of the Mosse/Weinstein Center for Jewish Studies. Her research focuses on Holocaust pedagogy, religion in education, and democratic teaching practices. Schweber examines how sensitive historical topics are taught across different educational contexts, exploring ethical dilemmas in curriculum design and the impact of socio-political environments on teaching. Her work consistently addresses the intersection of trauma, memory, and classroom practice.

Schweber graduated with High Honors from Swarthmore College in 1989, where she was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa. She completed graduate studies at Stanford University supported by the Wexner Foundation Fellowship.
