Simone P. NICLOU

Simone P. Niclou is a Full Professor and Vice-Rector for Research at the University of Luxembourg, overseeing research strategy, doctoral education, and medical/life sciences development. She previously led the Department of Cancer Research at the Luxembourg Institute of Health (LIH) from 2019–2023 and has held adjunct professorships at the University of Bergen.

• Education: Diploma in Biology (University of Fribourg, Switzerland), PhD in Cellular Biology (Friedrich-Miescher Institute/University of Basel, Switzerland), Postdoctoral training at University of Pennsylvania (US) and Netherlands Institute of Neuroscience (Netherlands)

Her research focuses on malignant brain tumors, particularly glioma biology, molecular heterogeneity, tumor plasticity, and metabolism. Her lab develops advanced patient-derived glioma models used globally by academic and private partners. She has secured significant multi-institutional grants in cancer biology.
