Associate Professor Simon Rennie, affiliated with the University of Exeter's College of Humanities and Department of English and Creative Writing, specializes in Victorian poetry with a focus on working-class and politically engaged works of the mid-19th century. His research includes the AHRC-funded Lancashire Cotton Famine Poetry project (2017-2019), resulting in a public database of poems reflecting the global social impacts of the American Civil War.
