Silke van Dyk is a Professor at the Department of Sociology, Friedrich Schiller University Jena. Her research focuses on political sociology, social inequality, sociology of social policy, property, and age/demography. She leads the projects Voluntariness and Capitalism (2020-2024) and Voluntariness Behind the Scenes (2024-2027).
Her recent co-authored book Nach dem Privateigentum? Güter, Infrastrukturen und Weltverhältnisse im Kapitalismus des 21. Jahrhunderts (2024) explores property dynamics in 21st-century capitalism. She collaborates with a multidisciplinary team including researchers like Alexandra Oeser, Anne Greule, and Florian Wagner.
