Shuang Qiu

Dr Shuang Qiu is a Lecturer in Sociology at Keele University since 2022, previously teaching at the University of Birmingham. She holds a PhD in Women's Studies from the University of York (2020), focusing on gendered experiences of Living Apart Together (LAT) relationships in China. Her research explores family practices, gender roles, intimacy dynamics, and East Asian sociocultural contexts through qualitative methodologies.

Her research interests include sociology of the family, gender studies, emotion in relationships, and transnational family practices. She has published a monograph Gender and Family Practices (2023) and numerous journal articles examining non-cohabiting relationships, study mothers' roles, and agency in intimate relationships.

Publications span sociology and interdisciplinary topics, including an unexpected contribution to computer science with an image segmentation paper in IEEE Transactions on Multimedia (2020). This highlights her diverse academic engagement.
