Shizu Yasuda is an Adjunct Professor in the Dance Department at Palm Beach Atlantic University's College of the Arts, joining the faculty in 2022. She has extensive experience in performance, choreography, and dance education from her years in the Houston dance community.
- MFA in Choreography, Jacksonville University
- BS in Human Development, Kobe University (Kobe City, Japan)
Her expertise spans contemporary/modern dance, with a focus on performance, choreography, and competitive training. She has contributed to institutional dance programs and raised funds for humanitarian causes through collaborative performances like Dancing for Hope. Her work has been recognized in international competitions, including the Youth America Grand Prix (YAGP) and World Ballet Competition (WBC).
She has received the Stunning Performer Award (2008), been selected for Houston Choreographers x6 (2019), and was honored as an ABT Affiliate Teacher (2018). Her students have achieved elite awards at major competitions, including:
- 5th-place Ensemble in the 2023 WBC Finals
- Outstanding Ensemble Award at the 2022 Universal Ballet Competition (UBC) Grand Prix Final
- Finalist at the 1st Ailian Youth Grand Prix (2022), performed at the National Ballet of China online gala
Ms. Yasuda is also an American Ballet Theatre-certified teacher for Pre-primary through Level 5.
