Dr. Sheilla Rodríguez Madera is a Professor in the Department of Global and Sociocultural Studies at Florida International University's Steven J. Green School of International & Public Affairs. With over 20 years of research on social determinants of trans health, she focuses on disaster contexts in Puerto Rico, migration, healthcare access, and community resilience. Former Executive Director of Puerto Rico's Violence Prevention Commission and president of the Puerto Rico Psychological Association, she leads NIH-funded projects and documentary productions addressing health disparities.
Her research examines strategies for health equity in marginalized communities, particularly in post-disaster economies. She has published extensively on gender identity and health justice.
