Sheila Williamson

Sheila Williamson serves as Clinical Instructor and lead faculty for Simulation in the College of Health Professions & MSON at the University of Detroit Mercy. An alumna of the university (DNP), she has three years of faculty experience following her clinical practice as a certified registered nurse anesthetist at Henry Ford Health System.

Williamson specializes in simulation-based education aligned with INACSL Standards of Best Practice, focusing on high-fidelity clinical training for airway management and crisis response. Her research addresses health disparities through community interventions targeting social determinants of health, particularly tobacco cessation in African American communities via barbershop/beauty salon partnerships. She develops mentorship pathways to increase diversity in nursing and anesthesia professions while integrating pathophysiology and pharmacology instruction for undergraduate nursing students.

As a core member of the STAR Simulation Center team, she utilizes this advanced facility for realistic clinical skill development. Williamson leads community health initiatives as president of Making It Count and founder of TIGHT4Life, partnering with trusted community figures to reduce health inequities. She actively mentors students and is driven by Detroit Mercy's mission of service, justice, and holistic education to empower future healthcare providers.
