Professor Shazia Choudhry is a Professor of Law and Jeffrey Hackney Tutorial Fellow in Law at Wadham College, University of Oxford. She holds additional roles as an Academic Bencher at the Inner Temple and Associate Academic Fellow there. Her research focuses on gender, human rights, and violence against women, employing interdisciplinary feminist perspectives alongside doctrinal, theoretical, and empirical methods. Her work bridges criminal law, human rights law, and family law. Currently serving as a Kwa Geok Choo Distinguished Visitor until 30 August 2024, she was recently nominated as the UK’s first candidate for election to the UN CEDAW Committee, a significant recognition of her expertise in gender and human rights.
