Shawan Chowdhury

Dr. Shawan Chowdhury is a Lecturer in the School of Biological Sciences at Monash University, specializing in global change biology with a focus on insects. He holds a PhD from the University of Queensland (2022), an MSc from the University of Dhaka (2016), and a BSc from the same institution (2015). His research focuses on biodiversity conservation, insect migration, and leveraging computational tools for ecological modeling. He has conducted postdoctoral research at the University of Adelaide (2024–2025) and the German Centre for Integrative Biodiversity Research (iDiv, 2022–2024). His lab addresses critical gaps in biodiversity knowledge, including minimizing data shortfalls, understanding insect migration dynamics, and overcoming language barriers in conservation science.
