Shaunte' Caraballo

Shaunte' Caraballo serves as Assistant Professor of Theatre in the Department of Theatre & Dance within the College of Arts & Humanities at California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH), where she also coordinates the Speech program and coaches the nationally competitive CSUDH Forensics team.

Her academic foundation includes a BA in Communication Arts (Speech and Theatre emphasis) from California Baptist University and an MFA in Acting from California State University, Long Beach.

Professor Caraballo specializes in theatre performance, speech communication, and competitive forensics, with research interests extending to performance art and spoken word poetry. Her practice integrates academic rigor with active performance—she maintains a 13-year commitment as a hula dancer with Hula Halau Na Meakanu O Laka O Hawaii while contributing as an actress and spoken-word artist.

Her competitive forensics achievements include:

• Two individual National Christian College Forensics Invitational titles
• Finalist placements in multiple National Christian College events
• Coaching Tennessee State University to first place in President’s III category at National Forensics Association tournaments
• Guiding Irvine Valley College to a national championship
• Leading CSUDH students to Quarter Finals, Semi-Finals, and Finals placements at recent national tournaments

As an advisor, she emphasizes competitive excellence through the Forensics program, where students consistently achieve top national rankings. Her mentorship combines technical speech/debate training with performance artistry, reflected in students' progression to advanced tournament rounds. While specific research grants aren't documented, her active coaching and performance roles demonstrate ongoing engagement with student development.

Professor Caraballo directs the CSUDH Forensics team and contributes to theatre productions, fostering a dynamic environment where academic study intersects with competitive performance and cultural expression.
