Sharon Haughey

Sharon Haughey is a Professor (Education) at the School of Pharmacy, Queen's University Belfast. She holds roles including Director of Education (Pharmacy) from 2014-2021 and currently leads the KN Cheung SK Chin InterSim as a Faculty InterSim Champion. Her academic journey includes a Pharmacist qualification in 1999, a PhD on pharmacist Continuing Professional Development (CPD) in Northern Ireland, and promotions from part-time Teaching Fellow (2001) to Senior Lecturer (2012) and Reader (2020).

Research focuses on pharmacy education innovations such as Objective Structured Clinical Examinations (OSCEs), interprofessional training, simulation, and sustainability integration. Key contributions include a widely used CPD portfolio framework and co-authoring Competency-Based Assessment in Pharmacy Education (2018, 2023 edition).

Teaching expertise spans pharmacy law, ethics, leadership, and dermatology. Awards include the John Horder Team Award 2019 and multiple educational accolades. Her work aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals related to quality education and sustainable healthcare systems.
