Shao-Hsien Liu

Shao-Hsien Liu is an Associate Professor at UMass Chan Medical School, affiliated with the T.H. Chan School of Medicine and the Morningside Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences. His academic roles span the Department of Population and Quantitative Health Sciences, the Division of Rheumatology, and the Masters in Clinical Investigation program.

Current projects evaluate post-discharge care after joint replacement and sex/gender differences in axial spondyloarthritis quality-of-life reporting.

Liu teaches epidemiologic methods in CTS 604: Comprehensive Project, mentors doctoral students, and collaborates with researchers like Kate Lapane, Jonathan Kay, and Jeffrey Driban. He utilizes nationally representative datasets (e.g., Osteoarthritis Initiative, nursing home databases) and observational studies to advance clinical knowledge.
