Shannon Lin

Dr. Shannon Lin is a Senior Lecturer and Diabetes Course Director at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), Faculty of Health. She holds dual roles in academia and clinical practice, specializing in diabetes and nutrition with a focus on underserved populations, particularly Indigenous communities. Her expertise includes health literacy, culturally responsive care, and diabetes self-management education.

She has secured research grants from the Department of Health and Diabetes Australia, and her work is published in high-impact journals. Dr. Lin actively collaborates with organizations like Dietitians Australia, Australian Diabetes Educators Association (ADEA), and Aboriginal Health and Medical Research Council (AH&MRC). She previously served as a Board Director for ADEA's Credentialled Diabetes Educator program and currently sits on the First Nations Health Advisory Council (2025-27).

Her awards include the UTS 2023 Alumni Award of Excellence and National Credentialled Diabetes Educator of the Year 2023. Teaching excellence is recognized through awards such as the UTS Health Dean's Academic Excellence Award (2022-2023) and a UTS Teaching and Learning Citation (2022). She was a finalist for the Australian Financial Review Teaching Excellence Award (2024) and nominated for Primer's NSW Woman of Excellence (2024).

Dr. Lin leads culturally responsive diabetes programs at Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services, including Illawarra, Coonamble, and Redfern AMS clinics. Her research and advocacy prioritize equitable healthcare access and workforce capacity-building in Indigenous communities.
