Dr. Shannon Holzer is an Assistant Professor of Government Education at Houston Christian University within the College of Arts and Humanities. Her academic work bridges philosophy, political science, and law, with a focus on the intersection of religion, governance, and ethics.
- Education: PhD in Religion, Politics, and Society from Baylor University; MA in Philosophy of Religion and Ethics from Talbot School of Theology at Biola University; BSOE in Religion from Wayland Baptist University, Hawaii.
Her research explores the role of religious reasoning in public policy and legal frameworks, particularly in debates over church-state relations and same-sex marriage. Recent publications include interdisciplinary analyses of legal schemas in American democracy and epistemological challenges in judicial treatment of religious beliefs.
Dr. Holzer teaches courses spanning US and Texas Government, Law and Religion in the US, Ethics, and advanced topics in philosophy and theology. Her office is located in the University Academic Center 117, and she can be reached at SHOLZER@HC.EDU.
