Seán Allan

Seán Allan is a Professor of German at the University of St Andrews, holding a Joint Research Professorship at the University of Bonn. He specializes in German literature, Enlightenment culture, and East German cinema. His research focuses on the German Social Imaginary, DEFA cinema, and the works of Heinrich von Kleist. He has held leadership roles including Head of the School of Modern Languages (2018-2022) and Acting Dean of Arts & Divinity (2023).
