Serkan Ince

Serkan Ince is a Research Fellow at the Center for Islamic Theology, University of Tübingen. His roles include scientific Assistant at the Chair of Islamic Doctrine and membership in the Center Council. He holds a Doctorate (2020) in Islamic Theology from Tübingen, with prior degrees in Cultural Studies, Religious Studies, and Theology from Bayreuth and Ankara University.

Research Focus: Ince specializes in systematic theology, epistemological argumentation theory, and Christian-Muslim relations. His work includes critical editions of Islamic theological texts, analysis of argumentative structures in Islamic apologetics, and studies on Ottoman missionary responses. He has contributed to projects on islamist extremism prevention and interfaith hermeneutics.

Publications span 2015–2023, emphasizing epistemological frameworks in Islamic theology, argumentation theory in kalām, and missionary khuṭbas. Funded by institutions like the Academy for Islam in Research and Society (AIWG) and Fritz Thyssen Stiftung, his grants supported research on Islamic theological reasoning and Ottoman missionary texts.

Teaching includes courses on Islamic creed, systematic theology, and Islamic philosophy since 2013. He has organized workshops like Argumentation and Theology (2016) and collaborated internationally.
