Associate Professor Serigne Lo is a Senior Biostatistician and Head of the Research & Biostatistics Group at the Melanoma Institute Australia (MIA). Previously, he worked at The University of Geneva (Switzerland) and the George Institute for Global Health in Sydney. He holds a Master of Research and PhD in Econometrics/Statistics from the University of Geneva, with a Swiss National Foundation Postdoctoral Fellowship.
His research focuses on melanoma prognostic modeling, adaptive clinical trials, survival analysis, and epidemiological studies. Key achievements include developing the MIA Calculator for predicting melanoma survival and contributing to high-impact studies on circulating tumor DNA and neoadjuvant therapy outcomes.
He has received the 2017 NSW Premier’s Award for Excellence in Translational Cancer Research. His work spans over 150 peer-reviewed articles in journals like Nature Medicine, Lancet Oncology, and Annals of Oncology.
Prof Lo advises on statistical methodologies for oncology trials and collaborates internationally. He leads teams in translational research, bridging statistical rigor with clinical practice.
