Dr. Selim Giray is an Associate Professor of Music and Director of Orchestral Studies at the University of Mississippi. He leads the University Orchestra and oversees orchestral programs, including the Memphis Youth Symphony Repertory Orchestra. His conducting roles include cover conductor for the Memphis Symphony Orchestra and Memphis Ballet. Giray’s expertise spans string pedagogy, instrumental conducting, and music education. He authored String Methods for Beginners (2020) and co-authored the forthcoming Fundamentals of Instrumental and Choral Conducting (2025). He holds a Doctor of Music from Florida State University and a Master of Music from East Carolina University.
