About
Sebastian Willman is a Senior Lecturer in Proterozoic Micropaleobiology at the Department of Earth Sciences, Paleobiology, Uppsala University. He serves as Deputy Head of Department responsible for education programs and Subject Coordinator for Geosciences.
His research focuses on organic microfossils from the Neoproterozoic and early Cambrian periods, specializing in acritarchs, small carbonaceous fossils (SCFs), and problematic tubular fossils. He investigates their taphonomy, taxonomy, and biostratigraphic potential to understand Precambrian-Cambrian transitions.
- Recent publications analyze microbial fossilization processes, SCF diversity in Laurentia, and Ediacaran-Cambrian boundary stratigraphy.
- He collaborates on international projects in Greenland, Finland, Estonia, and Wales, with affiliations to geotourism initiatives like Geoguide Baltoscandia.
He was awarded Excellent Teacher and contributes to geotourism guides for Baltic regions, Gotland, and Estonian islands.
