Patricia Mindus

Patricia Mindus is a Professor of Practical Philosophy at Uppsala University, Sweden, affiliated with the Faculty of Arts. She holds additional roles as Research Associate at the Institute for Future Studies and member of the Ethical Advisory Board of the Swedish Migration Agency. Her research focuses on legal and political theory, citizenship, migration policies, constitutional design, and digital ethics. She has held visiting positions at institutions like Collège de France and LUISS Guido Carli. Mindus has extensive academic leadership experience, including directing the Uppsala Forum for Democracy, Peace and Justice and leading the research program 'Democracy and Higher Education'.

Education: PhD in EU Studies (University of Turin), Master/DEA in Political Thought (Sciences-Po Paris), and BA/MPhil from Roma Tre University. Advanced training includes the Wallenberg Academy Fellowship and courses in academic management.

Research interests include citizenship functionalism, migration as institutional fact, constitutional population design, and the ethics of digital citizenship. She has pioneered theories addressing arbitrary law-making in migration and the role of technology in governance.

Awards include the Choice’s Award 2021, Luisa Guzzo Foundation Prize, and Teacher of the Year (2010). Her work on EU citizenship post-Brexit has influenced legal debates and policy initiatives. Grants include leadership of the 'Stability of Status in Sweden' project (SEK 49.8M) and Wallenberg Academy Fellowship (SEK 16M).

Teaching spans legal theory, political philosophy, and digital ethics. She supervises numerous PhD students and mentors post-doctoral researchers. Languages: Swedish (native), English, French, Italian (fluent), with working knowledge of Spanish.
