Prof. Dr. Sebastian Koos serves as Professor of Social Movements at the University of Konstanz's Cluster of Excellence "The Politics of Inequality" within the Department of Sociology. He holds Principal Investigator roles for three major cluster projects: "Digitalization, Automation and the Future of Work in Post-Industrial Welfare States," "Integration at Work," and "Climate Inequalities in the Global South: from Perceptions to Protest."
His research spans critical areas including Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), sustainable and political consumerism, employment relations, the moral economy of capitalism, and pro-social behavior. Koos employs interdisciplinary approaches bridging sociology, political science, and economics with strong emphasis on empirical methodologies.
Koos received his Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Mannheim in 2012 following his dissertation on "Corporate and Consumer Responsibility across Europe." His academic trajectory includes a John F. Kennedy Memorial Fellowship at Harvard University's Center for European Studies (2015/16) and postdoctoral work at the Mannheim Centre for European Social Research (MZES).
