Sebastian Kinder

Sebastian Kinder is a Professor (W3) of Economic Geography at the Department of Geography, Eberhard Karls University Tübingen since 2007. He holds dual diplomas: a Diplom-Geograph from Humboldt University Berlin (1994–1999) and a Diplom-Ingenieur in Urban and Regional Planning from Technical University Berlin (1994–1999). His research focuses on evolutionary economic geography, spatial economic transitions, knowledge-based services, border regions, and Southeast Asia.

• Doctorate in Geography (2001–2007): Dissertation on 'Industrial Districts in a Global City - Networking Amongst Advanced Producer Service Firms in Singapore'.
• Humboldt University Berlin (Diplom-Geograph): Thesis on 'National and regional effects of the development of high-tech industries in Great Britain'.
• Technical University Berlin (Diplom-Ingenieur): Thesis on 'The former Royal Prussian Powder Factory... possible uses of an industrial monument'.

His research spans transition economies in Central/Eastern Europe, Baltic States, and Southeast Asia. He serves as Dean of Studies in Geography (2018–2019), Guest Professor at Klaipeda University (2017–present), and holds leadership roles in academic committees including the Herder Research Council and German-Polish Textbook Commission.
