Prof. Tamaki Endo is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Economics, Saitama University. Her research focuses on informality in Asian mega-cities, risk response, urban development, and global value chains. She holds a PhD in Economics from Kyoto University (2007) and has held visiting positions at Chulalongkorn University (Thailand) and the School of Oriental and African Studies (London). Funded by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation during her stay at the University of Cologne (2016), her work bridges regional economics and area studies with an emphasis on Southeast Asia.
Education: BA in Law (Kyoto University, 1999), MA in Economics (Kyoto University, 2001), PhD in Economics (Kyoto University, 2007). Professional milestones include Japan Society for the Promotion of Science fellowships and the 34th Daido Life Foundation Incentive Award for Area Studies (2019). Her research explores urban poverty dynamics, labor market adaptations, and industrial restructuring in globalizing economies.
