Scott Tegge

Scott Tegge is an Assistant Professor of Music at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Northern Illinois University, University of Illinois at Chicago, DePaul University, and Carthage College. He specializes in tuba and brass quintet performance, chamber music, and entrepreneurship in music careers. His ensemble, the Gaudete Brass Quintet, focuses on expanding brass repertoire through commissions and premieres. Scott also directs chamber music at the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestras and teaches creative career-building courses.

Education: BM from Eastman School of Music; MM from University of Miami; Professional Diploma from Roosevelt University.

Research & Interests: Scott prioritizes performance excellence, student confidence, and artistic self-expression. His work emphasizes technical foundations in brass playing and collaborative learning. He actively commissions new works, tours internationally, and develops innovative career strategies for musicians.

Recent Work: The Gaudete Brass Quintet has released acclaimed albums including sevenfive – The John Corigliano Effect (2017), Chicago Moves (2012), and Conversations in Time (2011). Their recordings blend classical traditions with contemporary creativity. Scott’s teaching philosophy emphasizes entrepreneurship and community impact through music.
