Scott Swenson is an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at Yale School of Medicine. His research focuses on the role of stem and progenitor cells in liver and pancreatic development and response to injury, with specific interests in hepatitis, liver cirrhosis, and pancreatic diseases. He holds a BA from Oberlin College (1985), MD from the University of Cincinnati (1999), and a PhD in Molecular Biology from the University of Cincinnati (1997). He completed a residency at Yale–New Haven Hospital (2001) and a fellowship at Yale School of Medicine (2006).
His research explores mechanisms of liver regeneration, copper metabolism in Wilson disease, and clinical trials for hepatitis C. Notable contributions include studies on stem cell conversion to hepatocyte-like cells and the development of pancreatic acini.
