Professor Scott Bryan is a volcanologist at Queensland University of Technology (QUT), leading research in the School of Earth & Atmospheric Sciences. His work focuses on volcanic impacts on Earth’s evolution, particularly Large Igneous Provinces and pumice raft dynamics. He holds a PhD from Monash University and has conducted field research globally, including Australia, Mexico, and Tonga.
Research Themes:
- Large Igneous Provinces: Linking continental formation, mineral resources, and mass extinctions.
- Pumice Rafts: Investigating their role in coral reef connectivity and marine biodiversity.
Awards: Vice-Chancellor’s Excellence Awards (2016, 2015), Exceptional Reviewer Award (2013), and Yale’s Damon Wells Fellowship (2003).
Grants & Leadership: Co-leads the Rubble Stabilisation Program under the Reef Restoration and Adaptation Program (RRAP). Active in industry collaborations and translational research.
