Hugo Olierook is a Senior Research Fellow and DECRA Fellow at Curtin University's School of Earth and Planetary Sciences, part of the Faculty of Science and Engineering. He also serves as Deputy Director of the Curtin Frontier Institute for Geoscience Solutions and is affiliated with the Office of the Provost. Holding a BSc (Hons) and PhD from Curtin University, his research focuses on understanding Earth's tectonic and geodynamic history, with particular emphasis on continental rifting, large igneous provinces, and environmental crises linked to volcanic activity.
His research interests span continental rifting mechanisms, plate boundary dynamics, and the interplay between large igneous provinces and mass extinctions.
