Dr. Scott Branting is an Associate Professor and Graduate Program Director in the Department of Anthropology at the University of Central Florida's College of Sciences. He specializes in archaeology with a focus on the ancient Middle East and geospatial science. His work includes directing the Kerkenes Project in Turkey, studying an ancient city through excavations, remote sensing, and simulations, and developing augmented reality tools for field data collection.

Research interests include cultural heritage preservation via satellite monitoring and geospatial technologies. He leads UCF's Study Abroad programs in archaeology and is a founding member of the UCF GIS Cluster. Previously, he directed the Center for Middle Eastern Landscapes (CAMEL) at the University of Chicago.
As Graduate Program Director, he oversees the Integrative Anthropological Sciences PhD and MA programs, managing student registrations, advising, and program policies. His NSF-funded research involves imaging devices and collaborative projects.
