Scott Baker

Dr. C Scott Baker is a Professor and Associate Director at Oregon State University's Marine Mammal Institute. His research focuses on evolutionary and ecological patterns in whales and dolphins, integrating molecular genetics with demographic approaches to advance conservation strategies.

His current investigations include population structure analysis, genetic diversity assessments, molecular taxonomy development, and market monitoring of whalemeat in Asia. He developed a web-based DNA surveillance program for cetacean identification that led to the discovery of a new beaked whale species.
