Dr. Renee Albertson is a Senior Instructor and Research Associate at Oregon State University's Marine Mammal Institute, affiliated with the College of Agricultural Sciences and Department of Fisheries, Wildlife, and Conservation Sciences. She holds a Ph.D. in Wildlife Science from OSU (2014), M.Sc. in Wildlife Science (2009), M.A.T. in Science Education from Pacific University (1997), and B.S. in Chemistry and Biochemistry from Portland State University (1994). Her research focuses on using molecular markers to study population structure and evolutionary history of marine mammals, with applications in conservation management.
Her work investigates dolphin social structures, whale migratory patterns, and harbor seal habitat use along the Oregon coast through photo-identification techniques. Dr. Albertson teaches marine mammal courses and mentors undergraduate research interns.
