Dr. Scott Abernathy is an Associate Professor of Political Science and Distinguished Teaching Professor at the University of Minnesota. His scholarly work critically examines education policy through works such as School Choice and the Future of American Democracy (2005) analyzing voucher systems' impact on democratic citizenship, and No Child Left Behind and the Public Schools (2007) investigating educational quality measurement challenges.
With professional experience as a public school teacher in Wisconsin and street counselor for homeless youth in Boston, Dr. Abernathy brings practical perspective to policy analysis. He holds a Ph.D. in Politics from Princeton University (2002), M.P.A. in Domestic Policy from Princeton's Woodrow Wilson School (1997), and B.A. from Dartmouth College (1988).
