Scarlett Higgins is an Associate Professor in the Department of American Literary Studies at the University of New Mexico. Her research focuses on contemporary American literature and film, with expertise in postmodernism, Cold War culture, avant-garde traditions, and gender studies. She teaches courses such as Postmodernism, The Culture of the Cold War, and Contemporary Literature and Gender.
Her publications include articles in The Langston Hughes Review, The Review of Contemporary Fiction, and Arizona Quarterly, as well as a chapter in the 2014 edited volume Ablaze with Lyric Fire. She is currently working on a manuscript titled The Persistence of Vision: Twentieth and Twenty-First Century Collage.
Higgins' work bridges literary analysis and cultural critique, exploring themes of identity, historical memory, and artistic innovation.
