Professor Dame Sarah Worthington is a Professor of Law at the LSE Law School, London School of Economics and Political Science. Previously, she served as the Downing Professor of the Laws of England at the University of Cambridge (2011-2022), where she also directed the Cambridge Private Law Centre. She holds visiting appointments in Australia and Hong Kong. Her expertise spans commercial equity, personal property law, and corporate law, with research focusing on personal property rights and abuse of power in commercial contexts.
She has held governance roles including Pro-Director at LSE (2005-2010), Chair of LSE Press (2023–present), and board positions at The British Museum, British Academy (Treasurer, 2015–2020), and the Society of Legal Scholars (President, 2007–2008). A Barrister and Bencher of Middle Temple, she is also an Academic Member of South Square Chambers, Gray’s Inn.
