Dr. Sarah White is a Senior Lecturer at Macquarie Medical School, Macquarie University, specializing in clinical communication research. She holds a Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Otago (2011) and a BA (Hons) in Linguistics and Spanish/Latin American Studies from UNSW (2006). She is also a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA).
Her research uses conversation analysis to investigate clinical interactions, particularly surgeon-patient consultations and telehealth communication. Research interests include pain communication, health literacy, and clinical education methodologies.
Recent publications focus on telehealth implementation in general practice, exploring communication challenges and practitioner/patient perspectives. Her work demonstrates consistent themes of patient-centered communication and technology adaptation in healthcare.
Awards include multiple Citations for Outstanding Contributions to Student Learning and a Teaching Quality Improvement Award. Dr. White supervises undergraduate and postgraduate students and co-founded the Clinical Communication Group to facilitate research collaboration.
