Dr. Sarah Mosher is an Associate Professor of French at the University of North Dakota. Her research focuses on 20th and 21st century autobiographical texts and films from France, Northern Africa, and the Caribbean, with an emphasis on gender, human rights violations, and postcolonial themes. She has conducted research on prominent Francophone authors and filmmakers such as Maryse Condé, Assia Djebar, and Yamina Benguigui, and has published an interview with Benguigui in Paris. Currently, she is working on a book project about Benguigui’s cinema and activism, as well as an article analyzing human rights in works by Simone de Beauvoir and Gisèle Halimi.

Teaching: Dr. Mosher teaches courses on Twentieth and Twenty-First Century French and Francophone literatures, films, and cultures, including specialized topics such as autobiographical narratives in the Arab world, Franco-Algerian literature, Caribbean women’s writing, and global human rights. She also teaches French 340 "Business French" leveraging her background in business.

Research Interests: Her work challenges traditional literary canons by focusing on non-canonical women writers and filmmakers.
