Sarah M. Misemer

Sarah M. Misemer is a Professor in the Department of Hispanic Studies at Texas A&M University and serves as Associate Director of Undergraduate Research in the LAUNCH office. Her research focuses on contemporary Uruguayan and Argentine theater, performance, and literature, with a particular interest in cultural memory, national identity, and socio-political representation.

Her scholarly work includes monographs such as Secular Saints (2008), Moving Forward, Looking Back (2010), and Theatrical Topographies (2017), as well as co-editing The Trial That Never Ends (2017). She has published widely in journals like Latin American Theatre Review and South Central Review.

Misemer holds editorial roles for the Latin American Theatre Review Book series, serves on the Editorial Board of Latin American Theatre Review, and advises South Central Review. She previously chaired the Asociación de Estudios de Género y Sexualidades, advancing gender and sexuality studies.

Her research bridges literature, performance, and cultural analysis, addressing themes such as transnational cultural production, spatial crises in theater, and the intersection of politics and art.
