Dr. Sarah J. Ratcliffe is Professor and Director of the Division of Biostatistics at the University of Virginia's Department of Public Health Sciences. She holds a PhD in Statistics from Macquarie University and joined UVA in 2018 after 17 years at the University of Pennsylvania.
Her methodological research focuses on:
- Longitudinal and functional data analysis
- Joint modeling of longitudinal and survival data
- Predictive modeling in clinical settings
Current research projects include modeling physiological changes during labor, developing prediction algorithms for transplant patients, and directing data coordinating centers for multi-center trials. Her collaborative work spans neonatology, maternal-fetal medicine, HIV/AIDS, and critical care.
Leadership roles include:
- Director of Research Methods Core for UVA's CTSA (iTHRIV)
- Multiple Principal Investigator on NIH R01 and U24 grants
- Statistical member of multiple DSMBs
Honors include Fellowship in the American Statistical Association (2020) and Presidency of ENAR (2019).
