Wendy Novicoff, PhD, is a Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery and Public Health Sciences at the University of Virginia School of Medicine, serving as Director of Clinical Trials for Orthopaedic Surgery. She holds cross-appointments as Faculty for the School of Data Science, Education Director for UVA's Be Safe patient safety program, lead Evaluator for the Clinical and Translational Science Award (iTHRIV), and Program Director for both the Master of Science in Clinical Research and Graduate Certificate in Public Health Sciences programs.
Dr. Novicoff received her undergraduate degree from Duke University and graduate degrees from the University of Virginia.
Her research spans health services and outcomes evaluation with emphasis on surgical quality improvement, patient decision-making, and comparative effectiveness. She integrates performance improvement methodologies into medical education while advancing evidence-based standardization of clinical practices and health system data integrity.
Dr. Novicoff has received significant recognition:
