Dr. Sarah Hickmott is Associate Professor and Director of Postgraduate Taught Education at Durham University's School of Modern Languages and Cultures. Holds DPhil from Oxford, with prior appointments at Cambridge and ENS de Lyon.
Research examines intersections of contemporary French philosophy, musicology, and gender studies. Monograph Music, Philosophy and Gender (EUP, 2020) analyzes musical concepts in works of Nancy, Lacoue-Labarthe, and Badiou.
Current projects explore organs (bodily/technological) in French thought and feminist/queer theory applications.
Supervision: Mentors PhD students in French philosophy and visual culture. Currently supervising Man Ouyang.
