Sarah Goodwin

Dr Sarah Goodwin is a Senior Lecturer (part-time) in Law and Criminology at Sheffield Hallam University's College of Social Sciences and Arts. She holds a PhD from the University of Sheffield (2016) focusing on women's desistance from crime. Her work combines teaching, research, and community engagement, particularly with marginalized groups in criminal justice systems.

Teaching focuses on modules like 'Making Desistance and Recovery a Reality' (award-winning Level 6 module), criminal law, and undergraduate dissertation supervision. She integrates technological and artistic innovations into pedagogy to prepare students for professional roles in legal and criminal justice sectors.

Research explores desistance patterns among specific populations, including Muslim women with criminal convictions (collaborating with Leeds Beckett University and the Muslim Women in Prison project). She actively presents at national/international criminology conferences and co-authored the 2018 British Society of Criminology teaching award-winning module.
