Sarah Garrison is an Assistant Professor of Psychology at Davis & Elkins College. She holds a Ph.D. in Education (Research, Evaluation, Statistics, and Assessment) from the University of Southern Mississippi, an M.S. in Marriage and Family Therapy from the same institution, and a B.A. in Psychology and Women’s Studies from West Virginia University.
Her research focuses on student success initiatives, marriage and family dynamics, ethical practice in therapy, and addiction within family systems. She has extensive clinical and administrative experience, including serving as Director of Undergraduate Programs at the University of Southern Mississippi’s Department of Child and Family Studies. She is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Mississippi and has held leadership roles on state regulatory boards, including the Mississippi Board of Examiners for Social Workers and Marriage and Family Therapists.
Garrison has evaluated multi-million-dollar grants, such as the Community Outreach Stroke Education and Awareness Project and the Child Care Access Means Parents in School initiative. Recently, she secured a West Virginia Behavioral Health Workforce Initiative Grant to support students pursuing mental health careers. She also serves on community boards like Appalachian Impact and High Rocks Educational Corporation.
