Benjamin Toubia

Dr. Benjamin Toubia is a Professor in the Marriage & Family Therapy department at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology (Los Angeles campus). He earned his PsyD in Psychology with an emphasis in Couples and Family Therapy from Alliant International University in 2019, following an MA in 2016 and BA from UC Berkeley in 2006.

• Research Focus: Examines nontraditional union formation patterns among gay men and contributes to LGBTQ-affirmative therapeutic practices.
• Clinical Expertise: Specializes in addiction treatment, co-occurring psychiatric and addictive disorders, and crisis management, with 9+ years of experience in recovery services.
• Community Engagement: Serves as Clinical Fellow at the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (AAMFT) and California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (CAMFT), alongside volunteer roles at Being Alive, Jewish Federation, and Magnolia Charter Schools.

His therapeutic approach integrates Family Systems Theory, Constructivist/Narrative Theory, and queer-affirmative frameworks. He has taught as an adjunct professor across southern California before joining The Chicago School as Program Chair.
