Sarah E. Jenkins is an Assistant Professor of Animation, Creative Arts, and Visual Culture at Hampshire College. They are a queer Appalachian artist and experimental animator whose work explores themes of extraction, hidden labor, and disappearance through stop motion animation and site-responsive practices.

Jenkins’s research integrates queer theory, Afrofuturism, and climate change, often drawing inspiration from Octavia E. Butler’s Earthseed series. Their practice bridges analog and digital techniques, emphasizing subversive storytelling and transdisciplinary methodologies.
Notable exhibitions include the Museum of Fine Arts Boston, ICA/Boston, and the Boston Children’s Museum (2023 solo exhibition). Their work will appear in the forthcoming book Queering Appalachia's Visual History (University of Kentucky Press, 2024).
