Sarah Donkin is the Associate Dean (Student Experience) in the Faculty of Cultures, Arts & Education and a Senior Lecturer in Education and Childhood Studies at the University of Hull. With over 20 years of experience in education, she holds an MEd in Inclusive Education and a Level 5 Diploma in Trauma and Mental Health Informed Schools and Communities. Her work focuses on promoting inclusion, diversity, and trauma-informed approaches in educational settings.
Education: BA in Social Policy & Administration, MEd in Inclusive Education, and PGCert in Post-Compulsory Education (University of Huddersfield).
Research Interests: Sarah explores the role of education in fostering inclusion, transitions in higher education, and trauma-informed interventions. Recent projects include the HU9 Pilot (Trauma-Informed Education Interventions, £15,000) and the ongoing Trauma Informed Education Longitudinal Study (£7,500). Her work emphasizes safeguarding, wellbeing, and pedagogical strategies for vulnerable students.
Awards: Senior Fellow, Higher Education Academy (2018).
Teaching: Courses include Equality, Diversity & Inclusion; Safeguarding Children; Inclusive Education Debates; and Dissertation supervision. She integrates practical pedagogy with real-world applications.
