Sarah Boehm is a Professor of Interior Design at Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), where she has held this role since 2015. Previously, she served as an Assistant Professor (2009–2015) and Visiting Professor (2008–2009) at Florida International University (FIU), Miami, where she also coordinated the Cruise Ship and Super Yacht Program (2014–15). She earned an M.I.D. and B.S. in Interior Design from FIU.
Her research focuses on sustainable design, post-disaster recovery environments, accessibility, and cultural competence in design education. Notable grants include the IDEC Special Projects Grant (2013), Fairchild Books Grant (2012), and a U.S. DOE Solar Decathlon Grant (2011). She has been recognized with the Excellence in Teaching Award (FIU, 2009) and invited to lecture at the University of Genoa’s Hospitality Design Workshop (2015).
Boehm actively contributes to academic communities as a Professional Member of the Interior Design Educators Council (IDEC), co-chair of IDEC’s Social Responsibility Network, and advisor to SCAD’s Collaborative Learning Center. Her work bridges theory and practice, emphasizing interdisciplinary collaboration and socially responsible design.
