Sarah Barnes

Sarah Barnes is a Lecturer in Costume at Rose Bruford College, combining academic teaching with extensive professional experience in costume production across TV, theatre, and music industries. She holds a BA (Hons) in Costume Production from Rose Bruford College (2014) and a Postgraduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education (2024).

Her career spans roles from dresser to Head of Wardrobe on West End shows like Frozen the Musical and Dear Evan Hansen, as well as the Spice World 2019 UK Tour. During the pandemic, she launched a business designing novelty fabrics and homewares, which she continues alongside her academic role. Teaching focuses on Costume Production, leveraging her practical industry expertise.

Notable projects include costume alterations for Cirque Du Soleil’s Luzia and founding her freelance sewing business. Her work bridges traditional costume craft with entrepreneurial ventures, emphasizing hands-on skill development for students.
