Sarah Awad is an Associate Professor of Teaching in the Department of Art at the University of California, Irvine (UCI), affiliated with the Claire Trevor School of the Arts. She holds an MFA in Painting from UCLA and a BFA from Art Center College of Design. Her work focuses on spatial and color relationships within late modernist figuration, blending art historical references with material experimentation.

Research interests include contemporary painting practices, the interplay between accident and intention in artistic process, and the legacy of modernist traditions. Her work has been exhibited in solo shows at Night Gallery and Diane Rosenstein Gallery (Los Angeles), and featured in group exhibitions globally, including Copenhagen, Vienna, New York, and Miami.
She received the Joan Mitchell Foundation MFA Grant in 2011, and her work has been reviewed in Art in America, Modern Painter, and New American Painting.
Teaching experience includes roles at Art Center College of Design and Cal State Fullerton. She is affiliated with UCI entities such as the University Art Galleries, UCI Institute and Museum of California Art, and Catalyst Gallery.
