Sara de Sousa is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA) and a doctoral student (EdD) at the Hertfordshire Business School, University of Hertfordshire. Her research focuses on understanding belonging and transformation experiences of Black, Asian, and minority ethnic (BAME) students, inclusive curriculum design, and addressing ethnicity awarding gaps. She holds an MA in Careers Guidance (University of Huddersfield, 2016), a PGCE (University of Manchester, 1995), and a BA in Human Communication and Linguistics (University of Manchester, 1994).
Her work emphasizes educational equity, particularly in business school environments. Recent publications analyze awarding gaps and inclusive pedagogy, while her collaboration with Universities UK-NUS highlights systemic barriers faced by minority ethnic students.
